Free Printable Christmas Budget Planner (Gifts, Food & Extras)

Christmas costs creep up when they're spread across a dozen stores, a few online baskets and a grocery run or three. This free printable Christmas budget planner puts it all on paper: one total, a gift tracker for everyone on your list, and a page for food and extras.

It's three pages in US Letter size, in a calm cream, navy and green design. Print it, fill it in by hand and keep it on the fridge or in your bag while you shop. No sign-up needed.

What's in the planner

  • Page 1: My Christmas budget. Your total budget, what you've already saved, the weeks left and how much to put aside each week. A table splits the total into ten categories (gifts, stockings, food and drink, decorations, wrapping and cards, postage, outings, travel, giving and other) with Budget, Spent and Difference columns, plus an 8-week savings tracker.
  • Page 2: Gift tracker. 26 rows for each person you're buying for, with the gift idea, budget and amount spent, and tick boxes for bought and wrapped.
  • Page 3: Food, treats and extras. A Christmas food shopping list with store, budget and spent columns, a list for extras like wrap, cards and decorations, and room to note how many guests you're feeding.

How to set a realistic Christmas budget

  1. Start with what you can pay, not what you'd like to spend. Look at what's left each week after bills and essentials, multiply it by the weeks until Christmas, and add anything you've already saved. That's your total. For example, $35 a week for 7 weeks plus $50 saved is $295.
  2. Split the total across the categories on page 1. Fill in the big ones first (usually gifts and food), then the extras. If the categories add up to more than the total, trim them now, before you shop.
  3. Divide the gift budget by the people on page 2. The average per person box gives you a fair starting cap. Some people will get a little more, some a little less, but the total stays the same.
  4. Write down every purchase. Fill in the Spent column as you go, including small things like batteries, tape and gift bags. Check the Difference column each weekend so there are no surprises in late December.

Tips for using it

  • Print at 100% or “actual size,” not “fit to page,” so the boxes stay a comfortable size for writing.
  • Use pencil for budgets and pen for spending. It's easy to move money between categories without crossing everything out.
  • Slip it into a plastic sleeve and use a dry-erase marker for the weekly savings tracker if you want to reuse it.
  • Keep it for next year. This year's Spent column is the best starting point for next year's budget.

FAQ

Is this Christmas budget planner really free?

Yes. It's a free 3-page PDF for personal and home use. There's no email sign-up; just tap the download button.

What paper size is it?

US Letter (8.5 x 11 inches). If you print on A4, choose “fit to page” in your print settings so nothing gets cut off.

Can I fill it in on my phone?

It's designed to be printed and filled in by hand. Many people find a paper list on the fridge easier to stick to than an app, because the whole family can see it.

Final take

A Christmas budget works best when it's written down: one total, a cap per person and every purchase logged. Download the free planner, fill in page 1 tonight, and you'll know exactly how much room you have before the Black Friday sales start.
